Operations assessment and turnaround

Most capacity problems are flow problems. We measure where work queues, where labor is lost and where systems hand off badly, then re-engineer layout, process and staffing while the site keeps shipping.

When to call us

  • Cost per unit is rising and nobody agrees why.
  • The site misses service levels at peak.
  • A new contract or customer has changed the profile the site was designed for.

How we approach it

  1. Observe the operation and build the baseline from system data.
  2. Find the constraint: usually a transfer, an induction point or a handoff.
  3. Redesign layout, slotting, process and staffing, with engineered labor standards where needed.
  4. Implement in phases with the site team and measure the result.

Questions

Will this disrupt the operation?

It should not. Changes are phased around your volume calendar, and each phase is proven before the next starts.

Do you work on contract (3PL) sites?

Yes. Much of this experience comes from contract logistics, where a turnaround has to protect the customer contract as well as the cost.

Is this a Lean program?

It uses Lean and Six Sigma methods where they fit, but the goal is a measurable change in cost, capacity or service, not a program.

Talk it through

A scoping call costs nothing. You receive a written estimate before any work is billed.
